Now this looks very nice and inviting.
I only wish the rest of East Tampa had this type of peacefulness to enjoy. Unfortunately, this area has been begging for investment for a long, long time. There are projects planned but most are still waiting to even get off the ground. Very slow to do anything for this historic area.
Now we have summer upon us and we need some youth programs, recreation centers, and organized sports to participate in (that parents can afford to put their kids in). Little league and youth football would be great for this area. Sports encourage teamwork and a sense of pride.
This is primarily an African American area with a lot of low income households. This should not hold the city back from giving them the same types of venues that we find in other areas. When children don't have anywhere to go, anything constructive to do, they will find whatever they can to entertain themselves. Social media has shown us this over and over again.
These families need to have dreams, they need to see that there is hope, I have spoken to so many who feel that they will never rise above where they are now. If elected Mayor, I will meet with community leaders in East Tampa and come up with viable solutions for youth and for single parents and for the elderly in this area to realize that they aren't stuck...that somebody cares.
Let's shine the light on East Tampa and see what can blossum. Vote Julie Magill for Mayor of Tampa, March 2027.
