Sulphur Springs: A Community Worth Investing In

A strong city doesn't leave communities behind.

Historic Sulphur Springs — a reminder of the pride, history, and opportunity that still live within this community.

Tampa's neighborhoods have different histories, challenges and needs. City Hall shouldn't use a one-size-fits-all approach—or allow some communities to receive attention while others wait.

Every neighborhood deserves safe streets, reliable infrastructure, responsible investment and a real voice in decisions that affect its future.

Sulphur Springs holds a special place in Tampa's history—and in my own childhood memories.

There was a time when families from across the region visited the natural spring, the tower, and the surrounding attractions. It was a neighborhood filled with life, pride, and community.

Today, many Sulphur Springs residents feel that their neighborhood has been left behind.

Families who live in Sulphur Springs deserve the same safety, opportunity, and investment as any other part of Tampa.

Revitalization should never mean displacement—it should mean restoring dignity, protecting history, and creating real opportunity for the people who already call the neighborhood home.

Past redevelopment efforts in the area show how important it is to plan carefully, invest responsibly, and focus on long-term success for residents. Real progress must be thoughtful, accountable, and designed to strengthen the community for generations to come.

Sulphur Springs can shine again. That begins with:

Safe streets and strong, community-focused policing

Accountability for property owners who neglect housing conditions

Preservation of historic landmarks like the spring and tower

Thoughtful investment that benefits current residents and local families

Reviving neighborhoods is not about politics or labels.
It's about respecting people, honoring history, and building opportunity where it's needed most.

Because a strong city does not leave communities behind.

And as your Mayor, I won't either.
